Freizeitpark-Chef geht

Silver Dollar City plans to move forward by advancing technologies of the past.
Officials with Herschend Family Entertainment on Saturday announced an $8 million expansion to the park called The Grand Exposition. The addition will be modeled after the traveling expositions of the 1880s.
“The Grand Exposition opens a whole new region of the park encompassing two acres where guests are transported back in time to experience the golden era of discovery and excitement of the world's fairs and expositions in the late 1880s,” Silver Dollar City General Manager Brad Thomas said. “In keeping with our hallmark of bringing the past to life, we've chosen the theme of a very grand and exciting era, one which evokes the elements of the St. Louis World's Fair and PT Barnum's traveling expositions, which came through Missouri in the late 1880s.”
The new section is expected to open in the spring of 2006. Officials said it will include 10 new rides, which are currently being manufactured in Italy specifically for Silver Dollar City.
The rides include a variety of high-flying or spinning rides, including what officials termed a “family roller coaster.” There will also be rides for smaller children.
Officials described The Grand Exposition as a colorful destination where exposition goers can experience the collaboration of imagination, technology and entertainment.
Officials also announced that the park will feature a new festival this year. The Southern Gospel Picnic Festival will take place Aug. 31-Sept. 10, 2006. The festival will feature the music of Jeff & Sheri Easter, The Crabb Family, The McKameys, The Kingsmen and Gold City. It will also feature picnic-style food. Southern Gospel Nights will be a musical presentation that will take place each evening during the festival.
