Plans to start construction on Ko Olina amusement park in December

HONOLULU Developers at Oahu's Ko Olina Resort are hoping to begin construction on a three-point-seven acre marine amusement park in December.

According to a conditional use permit application submitted by West Honolulu Attractions, the company hopes of opening Ko Olina Adventure Park in late 2008.

The park is now envisioned as being in the class of Discovery Cove in Florida and the Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

Company officials say the park will provide aquatic and adventure interactive experiences with marine life in three man-made lagoons and pools.

Guests will be able to swim with dolphins, watch hammerhead sharks or snorkel among tropical fish.
