KUKA Robotics Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of industrial robots, today announced it has signed a development agreement with Primal Rides, of Ontario, Canada to provide robots for its new themed interactive amusement center attractions. The interactive centers will allow smaller local theme parks to offer the look and feel for a big dollar attraction at a minimal cost.

"The new themed rides or centers using our robots are extremely creative and look to be the most exciting amusement attractions in the business today," said Christon Manzella, key technology manager for entertainment for KUKA Robotics Corporation. "Primal will be using our robots as the cornerstone for these rides as they create custom-themed competitive rides tailored to its customer's requirements."

The company plans to use multiple models of KUKA robots for its Interactive robotic attractions. Targeted to small and medium entertainment venues, the attractions will appeal to the rider's competitive nature by offering rides challenging opponents to score points by hitting targets. In one example conceptualized by the company, four passengers are strapped to the end of a 16-foot robotic arm, moving in a limitless ride profile at 2G forces while participating in an interactive shooting game. The participants are challenged to shoot targets located throughout the scenery. As their group points increase the intensity of the targets and the speed of the robot increases. The robotic attractions are flexible in that they can be designed for small children (36in-52in), adults (52in and above) and/or both.
