Wild West World theme park gets formal start

Rain delayed the actual moving of dirt, but Thomas Etheredge cut the ceremonial ribbon on his planned Wild West World theme park today in Park City.

The $15 million-to-$17 million park is scheduled to open May 5, 2007. It will feature 25 western-themed rides and a 1,300-seat theater. Etheredge owns the Prairie Rose Chuckwagon Supper in Benton.

Over the next year, workers will install the park's storm drains, water and sewer lines, and build a parking lot. Work will begin on a new Sleep Inn motel, Papa John's restaurant and convenience store. Other stores and restaurants will be announced later.
